Board Vacancy

The Nebraska Board of Geologists (the Board) has an upcoming  vacancy for an education  member who is licensed in geology, is a member of the professional faculty of a geology or related geosciences department of a college or university located in Nebraska.   • The Board consists of seven members, five professional geologists, one education member, and one public member who are appointed by the Governor to five-year terms. Members must have been a resident of the state for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment, be a US citizen, and been actively practicing geology for at least ten years having responsible charge for at least five years.
  • The Board currently meets once a quarter in January, April, July, and October with additional meetings scheduled as needed. The meetings are typically held in Lincoln at the Board’s office.
  • The Board is a member of The National Association of State Boards of Geology (ASBOG) which is the national organization of licensing boards. ASBOG is responsible for developing and administering the FG and PG exams as well as assisting the boards in promoting licensure. An annual meeting is held, usually in late October/early November, to which the Board typically sends at least one member and the administrative programs officer.
